10 Ways to Wear White Sneakers

Nothing is more American than a pair of white sneakers.  I grew up running around my neighborhood in a classic pair of white canvas Keds.  It was a right of passage as a kid.  As I got older, white sneakers became less cool.  And now I’m back on the trend of loving them.  Turns out everything old is new again and white sneakers are back in fashion, literally.  The white sneakers grew up a bit too and are now leather vs. canvas.  Canvas sneakers still exist, but leather sneakers are king right now!  And I love that because I’m always wiping my shoes clean.  

 

I like perfect clean and pristine white sneakers.  I’m not a fan of the golden goose sneakers right now.  I personally don’t want to pay that much money for sneakers that already look dirty.  And I wouldn’t pay that much for a pair of shoes anyways.  I’m pretty hard on my shoes, so I need to keep that in mind when looking at the price.  

The pair I own can be found here.  I love the design on them, however they run a bit large and I should have sized down a half size.  I am eyeing this Madewell pair too, they are only $40 and adorable!

 

How To Keep Them White

Keeping white sneakers looking white is actually very easy.  You simply have to clean them! No I’m serious, in order to keep your white sneakers looking white you need to clean them after each wear.  I simply wipe them down with a wet cloth when I am done with them.  Water usually does the trick, but adding some bar soap will enhance the cleaning.

 

If the sneakers have groves you may need to get a toothbrush and scrub them a little bit.  A little elbow grease can go a long way to keeping your white sneakers white forever!  You can also polish them if they need a pick me up.  A small amount of white polish can go a long way to freshen up your sneakers. 

 

Ways To Wear White Sneakers

White sneakers aren’t just for running errands, they are a main shoe choice these days and look good with just about everything!  I love the versatility that a white sneaker offers.  They are the ultimate mom shoe that has become cool and I’m all for it!

The key to wearing white sneakers with just about anything is making it look stylish and being comfortable wearing it.  Some outfits naturally call for white sneakers, like jeans and a tee and it feels comfortable. However, some outfits feel like you’re wearing two different trends, like a floral dress and white sneakers.  But this is exactly why it works so well.

It’s the ultimate juxtaposition!  According to Webster, juxtaposition is the act or an instance of placing two or more things side by side often to compare or contrast or to create an interesting effect.  This perfectly describes white sneakers and a floral dress! They are so opposite that they actually go together and look cute!

Can’t go wrong with shorts and sneakers.  It takes me back to my childhood.  I’m pretty sure I would have worn socks though back in the day.  I’m team no socks these days.  What about you?

 

With A Jacket 

Cooler fall days mean I get to break out the green jacket.  You know I love green jackets and love how crisp it looks with the white sneakers.  Tennis shoes aren’t just for summer, you can wear them year round. 

 

With a Blazer

Leggings and sneakers are a match made in heaven.  This look is casual yet stylish. I’m wearing the Everlane leggings and they are amazing!  Great price point ($58), not to thin and retain their shape all day long.  I’ve been living in this pair during quarantine. 

 

With a Jumpsuit 

One of my favorite looks is a jumpsuit, denim jacket and a pair of sneakers.  This look is ideal for chasing Lizzie in the park and blowing bubbles, her favorite activity!

With Layers

White sneakers can be worn in spring, summer and fall.  I love to wear tons of layers and white sneakers.  Throw on a sweatshirt (mine is from a local Chicago boutique Alice and Wonder, it’s oversized so size down), a sweater blazer and jeans with your sneakers.  Showing your ankles in cooler fall weather thickens your blood!

Nothing is more classic than jeans, a white tee and white sneakers.  Classic style is always welcome in my daily looks.  This top has been on repeat for me recently, I love the detail on the bottom of it.
