Back by popular demand, it’s the Blazer review. A good blazer never goes out of style. My closet is packed full of them right now and I don’t see myself getting rid of any of them anytime soon. You can see my blazer review from the Fall here. While one of those blazers is now sold out, the other two are still available! Today I’ll be sharing my Top 3 Blazers for Spring.
My tried and true is the Regnant Blazer from J. Crew, it’s a true classic for work or weekend. I tend to wear it more on the weekend right now. For work I’ve been turning to my black Jardigan as its perfect for formal business meetings and not as stuffy as a traditional suit jacket. I like to call it the newer more stylish sister to the stuffy suit jacket.
For the Spring I’ve freshened up my blazers and introduced some new ones to my collection. I’m showing all these pieces with jeans because I’ve been wearing them on Fridays in the office. Some Friday’s we get to wear jeans and while it’s fun to switch up the weekday gear, I still like to look polished and put together. You can also dress these up and wear them as part of your normal week day work wear and I’ll show you how to do just that. Lets jump into the fun part which is why I love these blazers and how I’ve styled them.
Tweed Blazer
Tweed is a classic fabric that reminds me of a Jackie O era where dressing up was glamorous. Tweed is typically a winter fabric, but Emerson Rose has created a beautiful lightweight tweed blazer for Spring. This isn’t just an old stuffy tweed jacket, it’s been outfit with great details to make it very 2018. The blazer has a matching fringe tweed around the collar, front and sleeves of the jacket. This detail makes the blazer look young and fun!
The blazer is beautiful tailored to truly fit like a glove. While Emerson Rose is known for stylish work wear for woman, I love the brand for stylish work to week wear. Having my clothes work double duty is a huge selling point for me. I put a ton of time and effort into my work wardrobe and if I can wear it on the weekend too, I’m excited. This blazer is perfect for Saturday night drinks with dark denim and some delicate jewelry.
The Going Out Blazer
I just die for these ruffles, they are adorable and ultra feminine! This is the Going Out Blazer by J. Crew I was originally a bit hesitant with the blazer because of the length. I’m a tall girl, 5’9 without heels and my legs are long and have short torso. Wearing shorter length tops and jackets is always challenging because I feel like I look unbalanced at times. I don’t want to much leg and not enough torso. Tall girls you know what I mean, right?. For that matter the petite ladies know what I mean too for other reasons.
With this jacket I found the perfect balance to feel comfortable and look fabulous. I paired the blazer with a cream blouse, which allows the jacket to really pop and stand out. The ruffle trim edge at the bottom of the jacket is adorable, but I absolutely love the ruffle down the front and collar of the jacket. My preference is to wear the jacket open, but its just as cute buttoned up.
Taking this blazer from weekend to work wear is simple. Pair it with the same cream blouse and a pencil skirt, button the blazer up for a more conservative look. You can also pair the blazer with a colorful dress. My trip colorful dress picks are the Etsuko Dress and the Aditi Dress. They would both look great with this blazer.
Taupe Jardigan
My love for the MM LaFleur Jardigan is as deep as the ocean. I have two of them, the black version and the taupe version. Every girl needs this blazer in their wardrobe. It’s the one piece that I constantly turn to for work meetings and functions. Up until now I have only worn the Jardigan for work, never with jeans for a nighttime look. I stumbled upon it when I was changing to go out one night, I changed my pants first and happened to look in the mirror while making my way to the closet. I literally thought “why have I waited so long to do this”, it such a great piece to wear with jeans. And like that a new favorite night time outfit was born!
The Jardigan is made with an ultra soft, silky fabric that has the perfect amount of structure while still looking cool. This can go from boardroom to cocktails in seconds. The taupe color is a great alternative to traditional black, its a bit unexpected, but looks super polished, its a great blazer for Spring. Pair it with jeans gives it an extra sophisticated edge.
