Toddler Girl Spring Wardrobe

My biggest challenge in life these days is dressing Lizzie.  I know it doesn’t sound rough, but it is.  When I dress myself I can easily wear the same outfit everyday, but with a kid you can’t do that.  Kids get dirty, they get holes in their clothes so quickly and they aren’t worried about ruining their clothes, they are worried about how hard they can play. They aren’t focused on a toddler girl spring wardrobe.

Shopping each season for Lizzie is like planning the biggest meeting at work, it takes time and thoughtful planning.  That is why I buy her clothes for each season in bulk.  In other words, I sit down, write out what I need and then buy it.  I like to buy when there’s a sale too because paying a lot for kids clothes absolutely kills me.  I will invest in jackets, shoes and maybe one or two splurge items a season, but I do try to stick to a budget.

What To Buy

Right now I’m shopping for spring clothes.  What I enjoy about spring is I can use the same jackets I buy in the fall, I just have to pick the right sizing.  I also like spring because I can get a few warmer weather pieces that will work in the summer too, like short sleeve dresses.  

For jackets I usually buy one size larger than she actually is.  So right now she fits perfectly in a 2T, however I buy a 3T jacket so she can wear it in the fall too.  I roll up the sleeves and if possible cinch the waist.  Lots of toddler jackets have adjustable features, which lets you size up.  

For tops and pants I buy her true size, unless I can tell she is growing out of them.  Right now I’ve moved to 3T for pants, shirts and matching outfits.  Use your judgement on sizing, as a mom you just know the size for your kid.

Shoes are another story.  I can never get the right shoe size, I swear her feet grow overnight.  If it’s a shoe I absolutely love, I buy two sizes, her current size and one size up.  This way if she out grows one pair during the season I can just bring out the other size.  If she ends up not wearing them I sell the pair we didn’t use on Poshmark and usually recoup my money.

Here is my shopping list for a toddler girl spring wardrobe.  This amount of clothes gives me several options for all types of clothes.  I primarily focus on everyday outfits and have a few pieces that I can mix and match.  I’ve also added a few dressy options for church, dinners and anything that calls for a little nicer outfit.
