Fashion Details:
The last day of the month means it’s time for currently loving! In my previous currently loving posts I talk about a trend I’m loving. Like leopard, work totes or pink palettes. In this post I’m just talking about one item.
This item is the Everlane Day Glove and I’m wild about it. Fun fact about the Day Glove: when it originally launched it had a 15,000 person waiting list. That’s a ton of people wanting one shoe. I discovered the shoe a bit later and didn’t have to wait, but being on a wait list for an item is kind of agonizing. I waited for the Casey Dress on a wait list and the anticipation really worked me up.
With the weather warming up it means that it’s finally bare-ankle weather. Which means it’s time to break out the flats for the season. Like every spring, I’m dying to get out of my boots and into my flats. My ankles are craving sunlight and my outfits are craving cute shoes. I love boots, but a girl needs flats in her life!
Last fall I finally took the leap and got the coveted Day Glove from Everlane. I actually spotted them on a girl at the Everlane Denim Pop Up in Chicago last summer. You can see more about that event and the fabulous denim they were previewing in this post here.
She had the best outfit on from head to toe. Black Authentic Stretch Denim (which are now my favorite jeans, they run tts), a black silk cami and the Day Gloves in mauve. I saw it, loved it and told her I needed to buy her entire outfit immediately. Talk about being influenced 🙂
I took the jeans home that day and the Day Gloves arrived a few days later. It was love at first step with these shoes. The soft butter leather, sleek design, and unbelievable comfort had me singing this shoe’s praises from day one.
I live in downtown Chicago, which means I walk everywhere. My car is 6 years old and only has 25,000 miles on it. I rarely use the car. On any given day I walk at least 3 miles and the Day Glove can keep up with me. And it’s not just the comfort I love, there is so much more to love about this shoe.
Price
Price is a personal criteria for all purchases. What is an investment for some many not be for others. I’ve found that paying a little more for shoes is worth it. Yes I love $30 flats, but they usually end up hurting me and wearing out quickly.
The Everlane Day Glove is $115, which I consider to be a reasonable price for a pair of shoes. These shoes are so well crafted you are actually getting a deal. After wearing them around town I would have easily paid $150 for these and been happy with my purchase.
With all purchases you should save for them. And if you need some tips on how to save money for a big purchase you can check out my post here.
Comfort
The shoe is called the Day Glove and it truly lives up to its name. It fits like a glove! The round toe of this flat lets all your toes fit nicely and gives them room to wiggle. It’s not constricting or tight on your toes.
The back heel is also comfortable. With a small leather cushion in the back, it provides a little extra padding so it doesn’t cut you. You barely feel the shoe on your foot. In fact you can walk miles in these puppies and have well rested feet.
The cushioned sole is key in these flats, as it provides so much comfort. And it’s the reason why the Everlane Day Glove can be worn all day long! It’s magical!
I will point out that I needed to stretch one of the shoes. While my feet are a size 8 (get your normal size in the Day Glove) I have been blessed with one foot that is slightly larger. Lucky me! In order to stretch these out (and any pair of shoes) I wear a thick wool sock around the house for an hour or so. It does the trick and I’m good to go in no time. This trick works on any shoe too.
Durability
Made of butter soft leather this flat will stand the test of time. The leather is treated with a protectant and can be spot cleaned. I personally ruin all the toes of my shoes, it’s just how I walk. These haven’t been ruined yet and I haven’t changed the way I walk 🙂
Color Options
The Day Glove comes in 16 Colors so you will certainly find a color that fits your personality. I picked up the mauve color last year and become obsessed with them! It’s a muted color that goes with blacks or browns, so it can be worn all the time.
I recently got the red Day Glove and I’m in love!! It’s just the right amount of red to add a pop of color to my outfit. In fact Everlane just released the red, pale yellow and light blue for spring. They are all beautiful colors!
Check out the full color options below.
Yes, all this from one shoe. It’s crazy, but my love for the Everlane Day Glove is here to stay. I wonder what color I’ll pick up next season.
