Summersalt Swimsuit Review

classy woman in summersalt swimsuit review

Truth be told, I haven’t bought a bathing suit since before Lizzie was born, over 4 years ago. And If I really think about it, I’ve probably been wearing the same one for 8 years. That is kind of embarrassing! I told myself after I had Maggie that I would get back into my pre-pregnancy shape and get myself a few things I desperately needed. On the top of my list was a swimsuit. Shopping for a swimsuit is a daunting task.  I’ve been being served Summersalt targeted ads for a while now so when they reached out I was 100% onboard to work with them.

My first thought was “dear God, I’m not taking photos in a swimsuit!” However, I realized that if I want to teach my daughters to be confident in their own skin then I have to do the same thing. So here I am, a 43 year old mom of two, size 10, showing up on the internet in a swimsuit. And I couldn’t be more proud of the results. The other reason I wanted to do this is because I want women to see other regular women in swimsuits.  I have hips, my thighs touch and my chest is a bit out of control sometimes and all of that is ok.  This is my body and I’m not going to sit on the sidelines this summer, I’m going to wear the swimsuit and feel great in it. So let’s see these swimsuits in action in my Summersalt swimsuit review.

Summersalt Swimsuit Review Rating System

I’ve tested out these Summersalt swimsuits in the pool alone and then with Lizzie running around.  I’m rating these suits in five main categories, defined below. My rating scale is 1 through 5, with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst.

Butt Coverage – This one is simple. Is my entire rear end covered, if so then it’s a 5.

Chest Coverage – This category takes into account how secure my chest feels in the suit.

Tummy Coverage – This category takes into account the coverage of the tummy. It includes material weight and compression.

Movement – This category is all about being able to “mom” while in the bathing suit. I need to take into account jumping in the pool, holding a 1 year old and playing games with a 4 year old.

Confidence – My personal rating for how I feel in the swim suit.

Summersalt Ruffle Backflip Swimsuit

The suit is gorgeous out of the packaging and it’s even more stunning on. With a deep v front, an open back and adorable ruffles, it’s the best. It comes in 16 color options. I’m wearing a 10 (sea urchin) which is my normal size and the size I measured using their measurement guide.

Butt Coverage 4 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                      This is their full coverage suit. And maybe my rear end is larger than I thought, but I would like a couple more inches on the rear end to fully cover my butt. The coverage is still good though.

Chest Coverage 4 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                            This suit has a plunging neckline which is super flattering. It also has a fully open back so the chest support lies on the shoulders only. There are pads in the chest which smooth out the chest. It doesn’t push up your boobs, but lets them lay naturally without looking bad.

Tummy Coverage 5 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                  The suit has is made with their signature compression that gently covers my tummy.  I didn’t feel an overwhelming urge to suck in my stomach when wearing it.

Movement 4 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                              The top portion of the suit stays in place beautifully.  I did feel like the bottom portion of the suit snuck up a bit on me getting in and out of the pool.

Confidence 5 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                                  I feel like a million bucks in this suit! I love it!

Summersalt Marina Swimsuit

I’m wearing a 10 in the marina swimsuit which is my normal size and the size I measured using their measurement guide.  They have a long torso option too, which is an extra 1-3/4″ added to the length of the regular size.

Butt Coverage 3 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                      This suit is pretty cheeky and I have more rear end hanging out than I would like. Surprisingly the suit does stay in place the entire time. I don’t tug on it a ton when getting in and out of the pool.

Chest Coverage 5 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                           This suit completely covers me and there is no room for anything to slip out. The adjustable straps allows me to create the most perfect fit and feel.

Tummy Coverage 4 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                  The diagonal seems really create a secure feeling in my tummy area. The material of the suit is a medium weight, I was secure in it and my stomach looks smooth.

Movement 4 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                          Everything stays in place when moving around in this suit. I especially love the top, I feel super secure when bending over and move about at the pool without an issue.

Confidence 5 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Not sure if it was a print or the security of the chest area, but I feel amazing in this swim suit!

I’m also wearing the swim skirt in a size large.  I selected this size based off the website measurements, however it is big, so I should have sized down.  The swim skirt is great, as it really completes the looks.

Summersalt Ruched Backflip

summersalt swim suit

The summersalt ruched backflip suit is almost identical to the ruffle backflip suit I reviewed above.  The main difference is the butt coverage.  This suit is much more cheeky.  Here is my full review though.

Butt Coverage 3 out of 5                                                                                                                                                                                                      This is their cheeky coverage suit. Its a great fit and good coverage for a cheeky fit, however I personally would like to have more coverage.

The color is gorgeous!
