Striped Utility Blouse Review

Spring is in the air and I’m beyond excited.  It was a really long winter, even though it was the winter of my dreams.  It snowed an insane amount in Chicago and we lived through the polar vortex!  I can’t complain, I didn’t leave the house much.

With warmer weather slowly arriving it has me wanting to wear my favorite spring staple…stripes! I’ve been organizing my closet and rotating my spring items to the front.  With that rotation I’ve come across one of my favorite blouses.

It’s a classic grey striped blouse that is a staple in my closet.  I’m even more excited that the exact same striped blouse was recently re-stocked for Spring!  I love it so much that I wanted to share it with you.  Keep reading to see why I love it and how I style it for multiple events.

Why I Love This Striped Utility Blouse

Vertical Stripes

Come springtime stripes are my jam!  Stripes are classic and have a European feel.  I can’t get enough of them. Stripes are also hard to wear.  Horizontal stripes can make you look larger so you need to be careful when wearing them.

The most slimming type of stripe is a vertical stripe.  They instantly make you look taller and slimmer. Finding a vertical stripe top is hard though.  When I saw this top I knew it was going to be a favorite of mine, partly because I look trim in it!

Concealed Buttons

Buttons are a small detail on a blouse that can make the blouse look cheap or rich.  I absolutely despise white buttons on a blouse. White plastic buttons look cheap on a colored or patterned blouse.  When buttons match the shirt color or are black they make the blouse look rich. Finding this combination is rare though.

If you can’t find matching buttons the next best thing is a panel that conceals the buttons.  It’s genius! The small detail classes up a blouse and makes it look polished. I love that this striped blouse has that detail because the only button color you could use is white.

Sleeve Options

Having options with this striped blouse is key!  You can wear it as a long sleeve top or a ¾ length top.   The long sleeve look is ideal for colder days, nights out or in the office.  This look is more polished and buttoned up. When the sleeves are rolled up it provides a more casual relaxed look.  This look is perfect for the weekend and brunch. It provides a clean look for a more formal look.

Versatile Color

The stripe on this blouse is technically grey.  Let’s get real though, it could be black, grey or navy.  Which makes it ideal to pair with multiple color pallets.  The stripes on this shirt take on the color of your other article of clothes.

Pair it with dark skinny jeans and it looks black.  When you throw on a lighter color pant the stripes appear to be grey.  If brown is your color pallet choice, it’s ok because the stripes can look navy.

Several Wearable Options

So many options on how to wear this striped blouse.  It might be obvious, but I’m still going to share it with you!  You can wear the blouse untucked for a an unfinished looked. My preference is to do a tiny front tuck with this blouse to make it look polished.  And for the last look you can tie the ends together in the front. Tie tops are all the rage right now.
