Spring has sprung according to the calendar, however it’s still freezing in Chicago. I’m trying so hard to channel warmer temps and to do so I’m shopping for spring tops. I love my neutral colors and will incorporate them into my spring wardrobe. However right now I’m craving fresh spring colors!
This happens every year for me personally and in retail in general. Around February you start to see more color come through the stores. It usually starts with navy and white stripes. Stores are heavy on these colors after the holidays, it’s a great way to start with a clean slate. As time goes on color starts to creep into the stores and boom it’s Spring! This year the colors of Spring are bright fresh green and orange. They are in just about every store right now and I’m ready for it! Those colors are so refreshing and really brighten up any day.
I’ll be honest the green and orange you are seeing in the stores right now are very trendy and something I typically would steer away from. While you can wear these colors this Spring and Summer, they will not translate into Fall and Winter. So I created a loop hole for my own rules…find better deals on clothes with these colors!
I’m a cost per wear person, if the cost per wear of an item is low I can justify the purchase. Therefore I try to spend less money on “trendy” clothes and colors to justify my purchase. Which is why I always shop when there is a sale and will never pay over $75 regular price of a trendy top. I’m just not going to bend those rules.
