If your social media feed is anything like mine it has been filled with posts from Sezane. Whether its ads from the brand or other influencers wearing their clothes, I simply cannot hide from it. And while everything is gorgeous and chic I’ve had one thought…Is Sezane worth it? I had so many thoughts about the international brand over the years. But I finally took the plunge and let me tell you Sezane is worth it!
Sezane
If you are unfamiliar with Sezane let me give you the run down. Sezane’s unique charm lies in its ability to capture the essence of French fashion with an effortless touch. Founded by Morgane Sézalory in 2013, the brand has quickly become a go-to destination for fashion-conscious individuals looking to embrace that coveted “je ne sais quoi.” The keyword here is “effortless,” and Sezane has mastered this art form. Offering a wide range of clothing that perfectly balances sophistication and comfort, this brand is everything!
Being a French brand they have several locations across Paris and London and a few locations in the US. They are located in the following cities; New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston and Seattle. Given that I live in Chicago, I’ll only be shopping online with them, but would love to get to a brick and mortar store.
How To Shop Sezane
Ordering from an international brand can be intimidating, I know it is for me. And I typically shy away from doing so. The reasons why are mainly shipping and sizing. International brands have different sizing than US brands. And international shipping just sounds expensive. For context I’m the gal who will wait 3 extra days to avoid paying shipping.
Sizing
Sezane has been in my social media feed for years and the gals showing it have always been the super skinny ones who wear a size 25. Nothing against them, but that’s not my size. I’m a 30 on a good day and I have hips, a large chest and curves. So I wasn’t sure how Sezane would work for me.
Typically international brands have a different sizing convention than US brands and it has always confused me. An 8 in the US could be a 12 in the UK. And lets get honest, US sizing is highly inconsistent from brand to brand. I rely heavily on size guides from brands and Sezane offers a size guide by country, which is ideal for US shoppers. You simply find your shirt size or denim size in the US and follow it down the chart to your Sezane size. They also offer measurements on the chart and suggest sizing up if you are between sizes.
I’m typically an 8 in tops from US brands like Loft, JCrew, Banana and H&M, which equates to a Medium in Sezane sizing. I ordered a medium in three different tops and they all fit perfectly! I purposely ordered a cardigan, a knit top and a silk blouse which are made with all different fabrics to see how the sizing is. I ordered them all in a medium and they fit perfectly! The tops definitely run true to size.
Shipping
Shipping was surprisingly fast coming from oversea and it is free over $200. My items arrive within 4 days or placing my order. Some US brands can’t even ship that quickly to me.
Returns
The return policy window is short, but free! You have 15 days from the date you received the items to initiate your return. And packing it up is easy, just reuse the box they shipped the items to you in. I loved all my items so I can’t comment on the return policy.
Favorite Sezane Tops
It is so hard to pick a favorite Sezan piece. Everything is gorgeous and so well made. However their top selling item is the Gaspard Cardigan . It’s a long-time favorite at Sézane and a timeless knitwear piece to wear throughout the season. You can wear it as a cardigan (buttons in front open or closed) or as a jumper with the buttons in the back. It’s a true beauty!
Colette Mariniere
You can’t get more French than a classic Mariniere shirt. The iconic top is defined by the horizontal stripes. I’ve had a few of these tops over the years, but this this Sezane version takes the cake. It’s beautifully constructed of a medium weight knit with luxe buttons on the shoulder. I’ll have this top for 10+ years, its so stylish.
Louis Cardigan
Of course I had to get a cardigan to see what the hype was about. O.M.G. the hype is real friends, this cardigan is amazing. It fits like a dream and have the most gorgeous ruffle details. I can wear this to work on the weekends and even out at night, it’s that good!!
Juliet Blouse
I’m a sucker for a good “going out top” and the Juliet Blouse is ideal for that. It’s soft, feminine and stunning. I’d wear it alone with jeans and heels, but you can easily wear this to work layered under a blazer or cardigan.
Trying new things is hard, especially when putting money into it. If you were ever on the fence about Sezane I can assure you, it is worth it. You won’t be disappointed with your purchase. Effortless, timeless, and elegant – these are the keywords that best describe Sezane and its coveted sweaters. Embrace the magic of French fashion and elevate your style with Sezane, where cozy chic is always in season.
