My biggest collection in my closet is my shoe collection. Like most gals, I’ve lost count at this point and I’m ok with that. I’ve had some pairs of shoes for years, some that I wear only on special occasions and some that hold a place in my heart forever. Needless to say I do love shoes! One of my favorite brands of shoes are Rothy’s! I jumped on the Rothy’s bandwagon about a year ago and I wish I did so before then. I saw a ton of influencers online talking about them and doing their own Rothy’s review. I’m usually leery when I see the same product being posted about on the same day by multiple people. Perhaps I know too much, but I know how marketing works and blogging. Everyday I was seeing a new Rothy’s review.
However, I was influenced and had to try them out myself. With that being said I’m not working with Rothy’s (while I’d love to) or being paid by them to promote their shoes. This Rothy’s review is 100% my own genuine thoughts. So let’s get to it!
Why I Love Rothy’s
I do, in fact, love both pairs of Rothy’s that I own. Here is why;
Machine Washable
I’m a HUGE machine washable person. It’s the biggest selling point for any item that I buy. I walk everywhere in Chicago and my shoes get dirty easily. I also have a toddler who loves to step on my feet. So being able to quickly clean my shoes and have them looking brand new is huge for me.
To machine wash Rothy’s, you simply remove the liner (if the shoe has one) and wash them on a gentle cycle with just soap. When they are done, take them out and air dry them for a day or two. Your shoes will look brand new every time.
Comfort
Was I skeptical about the comfort people were claiming they had in Rothy’s? Yes I was because everyone defines comfort differently. My definition of comfortable is the ability to walk miles, which I do daily, and not have any blisters after wearing the shoes for any amount of time. After testing them out on the streets of Chicago I can confidently say they are comfortable to walk miles in!
There was no break in period for me, they fit my feet nicely from the start. I’ll go into sizing a bit more when I talk about the specific pairs I own below.
Stylish
Yes, shoes made from plastic bottles can be stylish! Rothy’s offers a variety of shoe styles that are all on trend and stylish. From a pointy toe to a square there is a shoe type for everyone. These shoes can be worn casually or dressed up. I love to travel for work in my Rothy’s. I can go from the plane into an office looking stylish and feeling comfortable.
The shoes also are ideal for walking to work. I tend to want a cohesive look even when commuting and my Rothy’s allow me to accomplish that. I don’t look too out of place commuting in these shoes, but still have the comfort of a sneaker.
My Favorite Rothy’s Styles
The Square in Tuxedo
I own the square in the tuxedo pattern and they are adorable in person! They are Chanel inspired and look perfect with a pair of jeans or black pants in the office. I walk to work in these shoes in the spring and fall. They are always comfortable and never give me an issue. I’ve washed them several times because the cream portion does get dirty. They come out of the washing machine sparkling clean every time.
However, I did size up in these shoes. I am traditionally an 8, in just about every shoe I own. But in these I’m an 8.5. The 8 was slightly snug and given that they will not stretch I went up the half size. I’m so glad I did because they fit perfectly.
The Lace Up in Bright White
For the longest time I’ve wanted a white sneaker, but knew I couldn’t keep them white enough. When I discovered Rothy’s Lace Up I had to have them because they are machine washable. I’ve put these babies to the test by getting them full of mud and then washing them. Guess what? They came clean! However, I did have to put a little elbow grease into them and scrub a bit with a toothbrush prior to washing, but they came out sparkling white. It was actually amazing!
I went with an 8 in these and they fit great. I can walk for days in them without any issues, as long as they are not tied too tight. You should tie them slightly loose as they won’t move around on your foot. And I wear them with no socks, it’s so nice!
