Tis’ the season to be plaid! For 11 months of the year I stay far away from plaid, but come December I am overly plaid happy! I especially love a classic tartan pattern which is technically not a plaid, but it’s own category, but who is keeping track anyways. Over the years I’ve slowly accumulated a collection of plaid tops that I bring out every holiday season.
3 Ways to Wear a Plaid Turtleneck
This year I added a new tartan turtleneck to my collection and I’ve been wearing it non stop! It’s part of the famous tissue turtleneck collection that J.Crew has every year. I live in these turtlenecks in the fall and winter. They are thin and easy to layer up with a warmer sweater or blazer and even wear alone. I personally own three of them (black, striped and plaid).
Now when I buy anything new I usually wear it to death for the first few weeks. I’m talking like wearing it three times a week on repeat non stop. It’s actually funny because when I get a new top I love I actually wear it out and get sick of it. I guess you can say I truly love what I buy.
Since I love to wear things on repeat I also love to come up with different ways to style it. By wearing a piece multiple ways it keeps the piece fresh and I don’t get tired of it too quickly. It also lets me disguise it so I don’t appear to be wearing the same top day after day. Today I’m sharing 3 quick ways to style this plaid turtleneck for the holiday season.
Plaid Turtleneck Outfit Options
Outfit #1
The most worn staple in my closet is the Sophie Sweater Blazer. I have it in the khaki color and black and both are equally loved. I love the way the khaki color pops with darker colors under it, as I have it styled here. And these booties are the most comfortable booties I own, they are a sweater for your feet! Plus they are only $115, you can’t beat that price.

Outfit #2
This look is perfect for the ski hills or sitting in front of a warm fireplace with a glass of wine. It’s cozy, festive and the perfect winter look. I love that you can wear this after the holidays as well. By layering the turtleneck it’s not the focal point of the outfit yet offers a bit of contrast to the overall look.

Outfit #3
This look screams Christmas Party or NYE look. You cannot go wrong with a faux fur vest, I’ve had mine for years, but you can find a similar one here. Anytime I put on my fur vest it instantly dresses up my look. And suede shoes top off the outfit with a bit of sophistication.
