Merit Makeup Review

I love the no makeup, makeup look, but have never been able to pull it off. Unfortunately I will never be able to just slap on some lipstick and leave the house. I need real makeup on my face. It’s just how my face is. While I have a great skincare routine, at the end of the day I have dull skin that is uneven with dark patches. I’m not complaining about it, I just know my skin very well.

I’ve seen Merit all over the internet and well I’m easily influenced so you know where this is going.  Actually, Merit reached out to send over a few of their products and I happily accepted! I’ve previously bought this lip gloss and enjoyed it very much so I wanted to see if their other products stood up to my first impression. And that brings us to my Merit Makeup Review.

Thoughts on Merit

Overall, I have very positive thoughts on Merit, they are a solid makeup brand, with pretty impressive products. Not everything was a winner for me and in the end, I do just need more coverage on my face. So yes, I would incorporate their products into my routine, but I have some other true hero products that I’m not willing to give up. Keep reading this Merit Makeup Review to see what’s a keeper and what I’d pass on.

Merit Product Review

 Day Glow Highlighting Balm

  • Keeper
  • Used this once and fell in love with it. It instantly brightened up my face and added life all day long. I used it on my cheek bones, middle of forehead and the tip of my chin. I don’t use it every day, but I probably use it 3 days a week, mainly when I’m in the office.  The Merit Day Glow Highlighting Balm comes in three shades, I use the color Bounce, which is a rose gold color.

Signature Lip

  • Pass
  • While the formula is super moisturizing and the color stays on pretty long I wasn’t a huge fan of the color they sent. And to be very honest I’m not willing to find a color that works for my complexion when I have lipsticks that work for me currently. The lipstick comes in 8 shades so you are sure to find something that works well with your skin tone.

Clean Lash

  • Keeper
  • This is a kind of a pass/keep product, crazy right? Well, I loved the mascara. The formula was gentle on my eyes, it didn’t irritate them or flake off. It’s thin, it doesn’t clump and is buildable. In addition,  my lashes looked very clean and defined. However, it didn’t provide the POP that I wanted for everyday mascara. This is, however, a great weekend or lazy makeup day mascara. It provides enough coverage for your eyes to look awake and natural. Merit Clean Lash mascara comes in perfect black only.

Brow 1980

  • Keeper
  • One swipe in and I was hooked! I have super thin brows (I grew up in the 90’s) and this brow product fluffed them up nicely. The difference is minimal to others, but huge to me! It really organized my brows and gave them more volume. Merit Brow 1980 is available in three shades and I’d go a bit lighter than your natural brown color when selecting the best one for you.

Great Skin

  • Pass
  • This serum is designed as a base for your skin. It hydrates and plumps your skin prepping it for your makeup. I didn’t see many benefits to add this to my routine and I use other products that support my skin much better. However, it has been a hot seller for Merit and is currently sold out. If you are in the market for something new you can test it out as a lot of people love it.

Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil (aka lip gloss)

  • Keeper
  • I don’t wear lip gloss often, but if I do I’ll wear this one. It provides a great shine, with a minimal goop feeling on your lips. It leaves a slight lip tint that isn’t over the top. The Shade Slick comes in 8 colors and I love the taupe, pink beet, and bel air colors.
