Well hello! Nothing like a national pandemic to boost your skincare routine. That is exactly what I have been doing and I’m loving it. I’m taking full advantage of the time at home and getting on a good schedule. Which includes my nightly Ice Roller session. If you follow me on Instagram I’ve been sharing my ice rolling journey. You can follow me here.
Ice rolling has been something that I’ve always wanted to do, but never had the time for. Which is a funny statement because it takes about 5 minutes to do and can be done when sitting on the couch. So really there is no reason to not be ice rolling.
There are many ice roller benefits and it’s also super calming to do. It’s 5-10 minutes of pampering that I give myself every night. The actual and visual benefits of ice rolling can be found below.
Ice Roller Benefits
Pores
Ice rolling can shrink the size of your pores, while it’s only temporary you can reap the benefits over and over again. It also unclogs your pores. If you follow it up with a charcoal face mask you will really see the extractions from your pores.
Skin Appearance
Your skin will appear more even and inflammation will be reduced. It’s like icing a sore leg, you are reducing any swelling or puffiness in your face. It will help with lymphatic drainage and puffiness. I don’t know about you, but anytime I can reduce the puffiness in my face I’m all in!
Aids In Skincare
Ice rolling aids in the absorption of your skincare products. You can run your face with your hands to really work in your skincare or you can ice roll it in. The constant gentle pressure on your skin lets the products be absorbed deep into your skin.
Therapeutic
For me ice rolling is a stress reliever. It literally takes the day off my face and lets me go to bed feeling fresh. It also helps me relieve tension and pressure of headaches.
How To Use The Ice Roller
Using the ice roller is actually very simple, however, I wanted to provide you with a few tips to get the most out of ice rolling.
- For best results ice roll in the morning, it will give your skin a kick start and leave you looking fresh. I personally ice roll at night as it takes the day off my face. Keep in mind ice rolling at any time is still a good idea.
- Prep your skin. Start with a fresh face, literally. Wash it and apply your products as you normally would.
- Use upward strokes. Think of it like rolling dough, you want to move upwards so the extra skin is stretched towards the top of your head.
- Apply Gentle Pressure when rolling. Don’t roll too hard, you will bruise your face. Instead apply a little pressure to really feel the cold on your skin.
Best Ice Rollers
I believe that you can get a great ice roller for under $20. Anything above that price is not really worth it, unless it comes with a person to do the ice rolling for you. My ice roller is on the pricier side at $20, however I noticed the cost varies, as I originally paid $15. Either way here are some great ice rollers under $20.
