Return to the office is here friends and with that comes the perfect time to update your work wardrobe. The biggest update in my closet is pants. I haven’t worn “work pants” in 18 months and a lot has changed. My body and pant styles are the main ones. Wide leg pants are the latest trend and today I’m sharing how to style wide leg pants for work five ways. The key to achieving the perfect style is making sure your proportions are in check.
Wide Leg Pants
Wide leg pants are a great option for the office. They offer a little more comfort than a skinny pant and open up the possibilities for outfit options. While wide leg pants may seem intimidating at first, they actually aren’t, as they look good on all body types. The key to looking great in wide leg pants is knowing your proportions and what to pair with them. Given that the pants are wider you are going to want to slim out your upper body. This is easily accomplished by wearing a tighter type or simply tucking in whatever top you are wearing. A quick front tuck solves everything.
My preference is a wide leg pant that has slightly cropped legs. Showing a bit of skin breaks up the pants and draws attention to the wide leg and the flowy nature of it. I always pair my wide leg pants with a high heel. Adding a heel elongates your leg making you look taller. It also instantly dresses up your outfit.
How to Style Wide Leg Pants For Work
You can actually wear a wide leg pant everyday to the office if you wanted to. They will take you from Monday to Friday in a heartbeat. You can dress them up for formal meetings or wear them on a Friday in a more casual way. I’ll show you how to style wide leg pants for work five different ways to maximize your wear-ability of wide leg pants. Let’s take a look.
Outfit #1
Take advantage of the warmer days by pairing the wide leg pant with a sleeveless top (I love this one too). Tuck in the top to show a defined waist that balances out your look. And ruffles are always welcome.
Outfit #2
Yes, you can pair a long cardigan with a wide leg pant! The key to making this look work is the cardigan shape, its a slim fitting cardigan that hangs right against your body. It still creates a feminine silhouette and balances out your whole body. Avoid oversized long cardigans to not look sloppy.
Outfit #3
Wide leg pant can be worn with a formal jacket up top. The key to this look is the fitted jacket and the cuffed sleeve. While the pants are fun and flowy, the jacket is polished and sharp. Putting these two “opposite” items together creates the perfect balance for this outfit.
Outfit #4
A classic blouse can be worn with pretty much anything. To make this look work well I opted to tie the top instead of tucking it it. The tie draws the eye up to the waist and creates a defined waist. It is also more fun then simply tucking your top in. This look is office approved!
Outfit #5
Pairing an oversized sweater with a wide leg pant will work as long as you front tuck the sweater. The front tuck is the easiest way to slim up a sweater and look polished while being insanely comfortable.
