How To Style a Tweed Jacket

The tweed jacket is a highly versatile piece not only for seasons, but for occasions.  The majority of tweed jackets can be worn year round.  Obviously in the summer you would wear it on chilly nights, but you get the point.  And within each season you can style the tweed jacket multiple ways.  You can really get a lot of bang for your buck with a tweed jacket.

How To Style A Tweed Jacket

There are three main reasons to style a tweed jacket.  For the work, for weekend and for a night out.  The options for each are plentiful if you play around with the items you already own.  I’ve come up with my favorite way to style the tweed jack for each occasion.

Work

The first and favorite way to wear a tweed jacket is to work and I’ve actually worn it for work travel.  I’ve paired it with my favorite joggers (that I wear way too much) and a white knit top.  On the plane I wear my Rothy’s and when I get to the office I put on a classic stiletto like these to dress up my look.  This is a classic look that is great for any office and even in a formal meeting setting.

Weekend

The tweed jacket can be dressed down as well.  And coming into slightly warmer temps is a great time to bust this piece out.  Wear it as your jacket with long layers underneath, like this t-shirt.  To dress it down even more pair it with straight leg denim and white sneakers.

At Night

Dress up your cardigan for a night out.  Wear it as your top coat with a silk cami underneath.  When paired with a black skinny ankle pant it really shines.  The best shoes choice is a high heel and then round out the outfit with a clutch.  You can never go wrong with a good evening bag.
