Fashion Details:
This year I’m all about festive holiday outfits. I’m stretching my wardrobe and wallet by finding pieces I can wear for the holidays and all winter long. True holiday patterns like plaid and fair isle have such a short lifespan. I like to wait until after Thanksgiving to bust out these items and then Christmas is about 25 days later. Which doesn’t give me a lot of time to wear a true holiday piece. By the time New Year’s comes around I’m moving onto sparkles.
Finding clothing styles that are festive to wear for the holidays and after is where I’m focusing my time this year. They are subtle wardrobe choices that will get you in the holiday season and wear well into February or March if winter lasts that long for you!
5 Ways To Create Festive Holiday Outfits
Cable Knit
A classic sweater that has been around forever. While it’s not a holiday pattern there is something festive about cable knit sweaters. They are cozy and preppy and worn properly, can also be dressy. Pair a classic cable knit sweater with a wide leg trouser, statement earring, and stiletto pump, and you have an instant holiday outfit that will stand the test of time. Here are a few cable knit sweaters that you can get in time for the holidays.
Gold Accents
My favorite gold combos are black and gold and cream and gold. Both are classic color combos that feel festive and can be worn all winter. Whether you are wearing a shirt, sweater or adding gold accessories, this color combo will have you looking festive in no time. Here are my picks for gold accents to add to your look.
Statement pieces
Adding a statement piece to any outfit instantly makes it fun and festive. My go-to are statement earrings. I added these statement earrings to my collection this year and they are amazing! They aren’t super large, but still offer a pop to my outfits. Here are a few statement pieces to ad to your holiday look.
Suede Heels
Suede isn’t just a winter fabric, it can actually be worn year round! I’ve been wearing my suede heels all year, but they really shine during the holiday season. Pairing a suede heel with your outfit elevates it and makes an intentional choice to be dressy. I have been wearing my black suede round toe pumps religiously this holiday season, and they are extremely comfortable too! Here are a few suede shoe options.
Tweed
I will sleep in tweed if I could, I love it that much. It is classic, gives off Jackie O vibes and will never go out of style. When worn during the holiday season I’d stick with cream tweed or black and white. It’s a fabric you can wear year round, but during the holidays it adds an extra festive flair to any outfit. My go-to tweed piece is my Porter Jacket LINK, but I also love these options.
