Outfit Details:
Ask any girl what her favorite part about Fall is and she will say PSL…but seriously, she will probably say sweater weather or fall layers. Layering up for fall is so exciting, I can hardly contain myself! Layering up with classic staples in classic colors is the best way to go. Let me show you how I create the perfect layered outfit for fall!
Black Denim
Black denim is my new best friend! I picked up Everlane’s Authentic Stretch Denim recently and absolutely love it. I opted for black because I didn’t have a black pair, as I have a closet full of blue denim. Black denim is a bit dressier then regular denim and if you feel bold, you might even be able to get away with them in the office during the work week. I haven’t tried it yet, because I truly love dressing up for work, but I’m thinking about it. My top pick for black denim is Everlane’s , but I’m also loving this pair, this J. Crew pair (their toothpick jeans are a cult classic), and this pair from the Loft (Loft jeans fit true to size and hit at a great length for taller gals).
Cream Top
Cream is the color of classic sophistication. You can put a cream top with distressed denim and look polished. I have a small arsenal of cream tops in my closet, but this Camp Blouse from Ann Taylor is currently on repeat. This top offers a middle of the road look, where overly dressed meets casual. I wear this top to work and the weekends so I truly get my money’s worth out of it. My top pick is the Camp Shirt, but I’m also loving this MM blouse (which is one of my work staples featured in my 5 pieces 5 outfits post) this MM blouse and this Everlane one (ok its technically white, but its a staple!)
Men’s Inspired Coat
One of the best fall layers purchase to date! This men’s inspired coat is the best fall layer around. It’s the perfect weight to be worn as a jacket or another layer on even cooler days. While it is considered a coat, I think of it as a sweater. The double texture of the coat makes it look rich and supple. This particular coat comes in black and grey, I opted for the grey as I own 100 black coats already and I love that it is a gorgeous color and super feminine. While I think everyone should own this one, I’m also liking this one (in the camel color), this two toned one and this one from J. Crew.
Adding all these pieces together is the perfect way to tackle any fall day. I can wear this outfit to work, on the weekend brunching or out on the town for dinner and drinks. Pieces that pull double duty are always a prime pick for me. I want to get the most out of my money.
