Best Mom Purse For Summer – Travel Sling

Finding my “mom style” has been a true journey and one I’m still figuring out.  It’s always changing.  The one piece I have found to be the most challenging has been my purse.   After a lot of trial and error I have finally found the best mom purse for summer, well any season really.  It’s the Everlane Travel Sling (find it here) and let me tell you, it is AMAZING! 

 

Purse Evolution 

My purse evolution has been pretty dramatic in the past 2 years.  Not only have I become a mom, but I’ve lived through a pandemic!  Holy changes.  It’s fascinating how much your daily purse needs change so quickly.  From work to weekend and pandemic life, I’ve been all over the board when it comes to purses.

Pre-Child Purse Needs

Pre-child I carried a large tote everywhere.   During the week for work and on the weekends.  I swear I could carry anything in my purse.  I loved having the room for everything and being able to use my purse to carry groceries, store returns and pretty much anything.  I would swing that large tote bag around town like it was nothing.  I felt secure having everything I could possibly think of in that purse

 

Post Child Purse Needs 

When I had a child my priorities changed for weekends and carrying a large tote bag on my shoulder became a huge pain in the rear end. I couldn’t hold a baby and a large purse at the same time. I needed the ability to have free hands and pick her up without a bag falling off my shoulder.  

 

My needs also changed.  I no longer needed to have a sewing kit, 4 lip glosses, pens and paper with me. Yes, I carried a mini sewing kit…it’s a long story!  However  I needed diapers, toys and snacks for Lizzie now. OK, maybe snacks for me too, but you get the point.  So I did what any new mom does and found the cutest diaper bag that was a backpack (this is my favorite still LINK).  This worked well for me. I put my phone and ID in the diaper bag and off we went. 

 

Pandemic Life Purse Needs 

Just as everything was going so well, the pandemic hit and I never left the house.  I had no need to and everything was closed.  I literally didn’t pick up my work bag from March 12, 2020 until mid-July.  In fact, my winter gloves were still in there!  If I left the house during the pandemic it was quick and I didn’t need my diaper bag because Lizzie wasn’t with me.  However, I needed something small that would hold my essentials.  I was beyond excited when I found the Everlane Travel Sling.

The Everlane Travel Sling literally changed my life and Mike’s.  It was the perfect purse that I needed.  Prior to finding the travel sling I would leave the house without my keys or money, I was literally a mess.  I just couldn’t remember to get everything together and out the door.  

I rarely had keys or money and depended on Mike for all that stuff.  I love him, but it’s a bad move to depend on a man for those things.  I was once a fully functioning independent woman who owned her own home and I lost her somewhere along the way.   When I found the travel sling I found that fully functioning independent woman again!  And she is fabulous!

The travel sling is slim yet functional.   It measures 10.25 inches long and 5.5 inches high, is 100% leather and comes in 5 colorways. It’s best worn across your body, which I love for the safety factor, because it’s attached to me and no one can take it off. 

It is small, so there is only room for your essentials. I keep my phone, cash, a credit card (or two) and my keys in it.  It holds everything I need to go to the store or park with Lizzie.  I’ve also traveled with it and it’s really nice!  I keep it on my body the entire time I travel.  Since it’s so small and lightweight I forget I have it on.

This might be one of my greatest finds.  I believe that every woman should own the Everlane Travel Sling.  Once you use it you will never take it off.  I promise.  Check it out in action!
