Hello friends! I have a question for you. How many pairs of shoes do you have? If I’m being completely honest, I have about 40+. It’s a bit embarrassing actually, but the count includes flip flops, dressy shoes, and everyday shoes. I have a lot of shoes that I might only wear once a year and then I have other pairs I am constantly wearing. The one thing I did notice was I have quite a few Everlane shoes.
How To Buy A Shoe
There are three main choices that drive my shoe purchasing decisions;
Style – The style of the shoe is the driving reason for buying a shoe. Do I need (I mean want) that type of shoe?
Comfort – Does the shoes fit and feel good? Can I walk for miles in them?
Price – I have no real metric for this. I try not to blow the bank, but I know that a quality shoe sometimes costs a lot.
Over a couple years I have gobbled up several pairs of Everlane shoes. It’s by far the one brand I have multiple pairs of shoes from. And they are among some of my favorites. Overall, Everlane shoes are quality shoes that hold up at reasonable prices. You can’t go wrong with that. Today I’m sharing my favorite pairs of Everlane shoes and giving you my expert tips on each pair.
The Boss Boot
Colors: 5 colors; pebbled black, burgundy, black patent, bone patent and black/white snakeskin (see them all here)
Sizing: Go up a half size to accommodate the narrow toe
Special Features: 2-inch stacked heel and a s function inside zipper
Price: $ 225
My Thoughts: When I slip these on I am truly a boss babe. Maybe it’s the name of the boot or maybe it’s the fit, but these boots make me feel like I can take on the world. I love the bone patent leather, it’s completely outside the box for me and I’m so glad I took a risk with them.
The Glove Boot Reknit
Colors: 6 colors; bone, black, toffee, tomato, grey and cobalt (see them all here)
Sizing: True to Size
Special Features: 2-inch heel and a knit material
Price: $155
My Thoughts: These are the ultimate boot, they literally fit like a glove. They feel like a perfectly fitted ribbed t-shirt and are incredibly comfortable. The toffee color is rich and the right balance of lightness and deepness for the fall.
The Day Glove
Colors: 18 colors; black, white, rose, cream, mocha, tan, mauve, burgundy, brick, navy, caramel, red, slate blue, pale lemon, chocolate, navy suede, pale rose suede and dark rose suede (see them all here)
Sizing: True to Size
Special Features: side vents to let your feet breath and a back pull tab to easily get the shoe on and off
Price: $115
My Thoughts: The best round toe flat around. I started with the mauve and then got the red and I’m pretty sure I’ll pick up another pair in the spring, probably a suede pair. I walk everywhere in Chicago and these flats can keep up with me. You can read my full detailed review of them in this post here.
The Day Heel
Colors: 11 colors; black, red, pale rose, pecan, honey, bone, natural suede, black suede, cognac suede, bronzed and iron (see them all here)
Sizing: True to Size
Special Features: 2-inch heel and elastic band heel
Price:$145
My Thoughts: This is a great shoe to wear to work. The heel is the right height for sitting at your desk or running around the office all day. I own the black suede so I only break them out in the cooler months. Personally, I don’t like them in the black leather option. I think a colorful leather option or any of the suede options are your best bet. They are very comfortable. However the elastic band on the heel take a little bit of getting used to. It might take a day or two to get used to it, after that you don’t notice it all.
The Day Cross Sandal
Colors: 5 colors; rose, black, white, camel and mocha (see them all here)
Sizing: True to Size
Special Features: Made from super soft Italian leather
Price:$88
My Thoughts: Buy theses now! They are the ultimate sandal for warm weather. I’ve had to pack mine away now, but they are a great sandal to have in your closet for that last minute trip to the beach. I own the white and love them, but they do get dirty. After I wear them I wipe them off with warm water and soap to keep the dirt from taking over. If you maintain them they will look like new every time you wear them.
The Modern Loafer
Colors: 4 colors; black, camel, bone and black suede (see them all here)
Sizing: Runs tight, potentially size up a half size
Special Features: two tones sole that makes the shoe pop
Price: $168
My Thoughts: I like these shoes, they are the only loafer I own. However, they took a very long time to stretch out. I purchased my original size and they were tight. I did my shoe stretching trick (see full details below) for weeks and they barely stretched. Overtime they are great, but initially they hurt.
Trainer by Treads
Colors: 14 colors (see them all here)
Sizing: True To Size
Special Features: On the path to zero impact, they create the first carbon neutral sneaker.
Price: $98
My Thoughts: They remind me of an old school sneaker and that is why I like them. I also love the price, under $100! They are a structured sneaker, they hold up to any activity and can keep up with the miles I walk in Chicago. Not only are they good for the environment, they also feel great on your feet.
And those are my thoughts on some of my favorite Everlane shoes.
Shoe Stretching Trick
My shoe stretching trick is a combination of multiple techniques I’ve read about over the years. There are two main steps to the technique. First I put on the thickest socks I can find. I squeeze my feet (with the sock) into the shoe and walk around the house or watch TV. Night time is the best for this activity when I’m relaxing.
I then introduce heat into the equation. I get the blow dryer out and “blow dry” my feet for several minutes. This gets the leather hot and makes it easier to stretch out. I continue to walk around with my thick socks on.
I do this until my feet actually hurt then I take off the shoes, rest my bare feet and try on the shoes without socks. You may feel a difference immediately. I wait until the next day, try on the shoes and see how they feel. If more stretching is needed I repeat the process.
I told you it was super scientific!
