Hello friends! Temps are starting to warm up in Chicago and that means that true “shorts weather” is here. Therefore, I’ve been narrowing down my short options and also contemplating how to get tan legs fast! Any suggestions are welcome. Spray tans don’t work for me and wash off way too quickly. And I have yet to find a good cream to apply. Therefore, please flood me with suggestions.
The funny thing about shorts is that there was a period of time where I refused to wear shorts. I was in my twenties and just refused to wear them. Above all, it was a protest because they were half a pant and cost the same amount as a full pant. In addition, I couldn’t find a pair that I liked.
Consequently, finding the perfect short is like finding the perfect pair of jeans, it takes work! From the cut to the length, finding the perfect short is a labor of love. My biggest pet peeve with shorts is when they ride up my thigh. Thick, stiff fabrics ride up my leg and create a super uncomfortable short for me. In other words, I want a loose fitting short that doesn’t cling to my leg.
In addition, I find that the rise on shorts are drastically different than the rise on pants. While I love a high waisted pant, I do not like high waisted shorts. Therefore, I want my short to sit a little lower and not be super tight. With most of my pants I love a tailored look that shows my curves. However, with shorts I prefer that they have a little give and are not skin tight.
With that being said, I have found the ideal short this summer. Meet the Easy Chino Short! These perfect shorts comes in five beautiful colors that will have you debating which pair to get. The five colors are tomato, stone, fatigue (which is a green color), washed blacked and ochre (a creamy camel color). Most importantly, all the colors are fun and ideal for summer days and for these easy summer outfits.
Why I love the Easy Short
Falling in love with these shorts is easy (pun intended :)). I love these shorts for so many reasons, which include:
Lightweight cotton with the right amount of stretch
Elastic waist
Casual, relaxed fit
Machine washable
Under $50
Easy to wear anywhere
I’m not going to tell you that you can dress these shorts up or down because they aren’t a dressy short. They are a casual, easy summer short and should be worn that way. They are great for running errands around town, a casual brunch or a picnic in the park. Speaking of a picnic, check out my post for packing the perfect picnic.
I’m always looking for cute and easy summer outfits for the weekend. I spend all week in my formal workwear, which I love. However, I have a hard time putting together a casual outfit without looking like a homeless person. Can you relate to that? I’ve taken some time to plan out casual weekend looks that I can easily pull out of the closet. Let’s take a look at these easy summer outfits.
Easy Weekend Look 1
Easy short in washed black + linen tee + denim jacket + day crossover sandal
I’ll be honest I’m not a huge linen fan. I feel like a linen dress or pants always look wrinkled. I know that they are super cool and breathable in the summer, but I just can’t get into it. However, tee shirts are a different story, as they don’t wrinkle as easily. In addition, it also has more character that a plain white cotton shirt. On the other hand, I may be a linen fan after all!
My co-worker came in wearing this denim jacket the other day. I tried it on immediately (yes, I try on my co-workers clothes) and bought it within 10 minutes. To sum it up, it is that fabulous! It’s super soft and moves with you. Half the time I forget I have it on because it is that comfortable. The wash is a light wash, but it’s also available in a darker wash.
The Everlane “Day” series continues to be a favorite of mine. You all know I’m a huge Day Glove fan because of the comfort and effortless style. They came out with a sandal version and it’s amazing. Made from a super soft leather with the right amount of cushion. Therefore, you can walk miles in these sandals. They are my favorite summer sandal. I have the white, but they come in black, rose, camel and mocha.
Easy Weekend Look 2
Easy Shorts in fatigue + denim button down + leopard flats
Confession…I have three denim button downs in my closet and I only wear them in the winter as a layer piece. However, summer is also a great time to wear them. There are so many options to wear them. You can tuck it in, wear it untucked, tie it in the front, roll up the sleeves or where them down. To sum it up, they are very versatile.
Yes, you can wear flats with shorts, as they are a great alternative for sandals. I’ve thrown on my leopard flats, which go with everything! That is to say leopard is my new neutral (see the post I wrote about it here) and pairing it with solid colors offers the right amount of extra that the outfit needs.
Putting together a few outfits ahead of time saves me so much time on the weekends. Therefore, I no longer stand in front of the closet and claim I have nothing to wear. Ok that’s a bit of a lie 🙂 I still claim I have nothing to wear, but I’ve reduced it by half.
Thanks for sharing such an summer outfits this looks so comfortable and i love that leopard flats they are simply suitable to the dress…!
