Outfit Details:
Happy Thursday everyone! I swear, as every week goes by I can’t believe how fast Summer is going. I know it’s the end of July and Summer like weather usually sticks around until September here in Chicago, but still it’s going so fast! Instead of worrying about how fast the Summer is going I’m going to embrace it and live each day to its fullest and create an easy summer outfit.
I’m not going to lie, it’s been a little hard to live each day to the fullest right now because we are in the midst of moving. It’s been organized chaos for a bit and I’m looking forward to the end of it. We started out on this journey less that 30 days ago! We put our current condo up for sale and it sold in 2 days! It was amazing, yet scary as we needed to find a place fast.
Everything kind of fell into place and we are moving into out dream condo in a few days. In the meantime we will be living in a hotel out of a bunch of suitcases! We wanted to make a few changes to the new place and couldn’t live there while the work gets done. So in one week I am hoping to be in my new home and living the dream!
Until then, I’m looking forward to sitting on a king bed for hours and using one bathroom for me and Mike 🙂 This is my version of camping! What I do have, though, is the internet and a lot of time time plan fresh content for you, which is super exciting because sometimes my days fill up with other priorities. Speaking of priorities, have you checked out my post on why I’m removing the word busy from my vocabulary? If not you need to check it out, it might be one of my favorite opinion posts I’ve written so far.
But lets move on to fun, happy Summer things and the reason for this post…this adorable easy summer outfit!
Nothing screams Summer more that fresh fruit on your top! I absolutely love the front tie, it is at the right height and lays perfectly too. The dolman style sleeves on this top are everything. It allows more air to circulate on those hot summer days. The brand is Rails and I’m obsessed with it right now. They have the cutest tops this summer (like this tie front collared shirt or this butterfly print t-shirt and this strawberry t-shirt). This brand’s items are a bit more than I normally pay for a top. However, I decided to splurge on it because it’s high quality and versatile. I can wear this on the weekend and during the week on casual Fridays at work. I’d pair it with high-waisted jeans and a cute wedge for the office. It’s a versatile easy summer outfit.
Speaking of high-waisted, these J.Crew High-Waisted Denim Shorts….I’m in love! I tend to wear high waisted jeans anyway, so the shorts version is right up my alley. They are the right height and aren’t too constricting. Sometimes high waisted jeans or shorts make you feel like a stuffed sausage and these do the exact opposite. They allow you to move without feeling constricted and give you room to breath. These are a winner in my book!
The shorts are proportioned perfectly for a long legged gal! I’m 5’9 and the majority of it is legs, so finding a delicate balance with tops and bottoms is sometimes tricky. Short tops look funny on me because there is to0 much leg. These high waisted shorts are the perfect proportion that allow me to wear a shorter top and not look funny. Everyone wins with these shorts and they help round out this easy summer outfit.
