Outfit Details:
What is the perfect summer time afternoon treat? A cold brew coffee, of course. Even better, a homemade cold brew coffee. And trust me, it’s not as hard as it sounds and it’s delicious. So today I’m sharing all the details of the recipe and the perfect way to make your cold brew coffee. And a big thanks to my friends at Boca Java for providing the beans for this post.
Now let’s talk about coffee. I’ll be honest, in the mornings I prefer to drink tea. Green tea to be exact. In the afternoon is where I splurge on my coffee drinks. I enjoy the sweet taste of coffee and a sweet treat as my afternoon pick me up. So given that I have a tight budget for Starbucks, I need to get creative with my afternoon coffee. I usually grab one at work or splurge for the $1 Dunkin special. I know, I’m a wild woman.
My latest partnership came at the perfect time as summer has arrived and I’m in the mood for cold coffee drinks. To keep with my budget and the fun of trying new things, I found the perfect solution: Homemade Cold Brew Coffee! The whole homemade part makes it sound intimidating, but I promise, it is not. And the best part is it tastes delicious and lasts for up to 2 weeks in the fridge!
I recently partnered with Boca Java, a gourmet coffee club that prides itself on getting customers fresh coffee within days of roasting it. It’s a fully customizable auto delivery service that gives customers coffee that is roast-to-order. The coffee is so fresh, you’ll be able to smell the delicious aroma from the package. So many great points on this club:

Now back to the actual homemade cold brew coffee which is super easy to make and delicious to enjoy. Keep reading for the step by step instructions and photos of the process. But first of all, a fashion blogger’s take on a food blogger’s life. It’s hard! I have to give all of the food bloggers out there a huge pat on the back. Step by step “cooking” photos aren’t that easy. Therefore, this post was actually a lot harder than my fashion posts. But I don’t think I know the tricks yet.
Step 1 – Stir together coffee grounds and water in a large bowl or lidded container
Step 2 – Cover and let steep on the counter (at room temperature) for at least 10 hours and up to 24 hours
Step 3 – Line a mesh strainer with a cheesecloth
Step 4 – Pour the coffee mixture through the cheesecloth-lined strainer while pressing the grounds with a spoon to help with the drainage
Step 5 – Discard coffee grounds
Step 6 – Store the cold brew coffee concentrate in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
I like my cold brew coffee creamy, so I add in more half-and-half to achieve the desired result. Play around with it and add what you want to sweeten it up. Finally, always grab a fun straw for your drink. Because life is more fun with cute straws!
