Fashion Details:
Hello friends! I’m coming to you today with a post that I previously created while I was pregnant. I was hoping to get ahead of the curve a bit with content, however, I went into labor early and got behind. Man’s best laid plans, right!?! Good thing this post is featuring classic styles to buy now. Anyway, enjoy the bump a little longer in these photos:)
I’m ready to shop again, are you guys? I usually shop my heart out in December and then snatch up the good deals in January and take a long break…well a few weeks is long, right? Come mid-February I’m ready to shop again, but what should I buy?
Sweaters are usually played out by now and I’m ready for spring clothes, but it’s not warm enough outside for them yet. So I focus on the classic pieces, the items that are staples in your wardrobe that can be worn year-round. Chances are they may not be on sale and that’s ok. A good investment piece is worth the money if you can find multiple uses for it.
The items I’m sharing are the Top 5 Classic Styles to buy now for your wardrobe. These items create a great base for your wardrobe and can me mixed and matched with other items in your closet. They are classic styles that you will find yourself reaching for day after day.
Stripes
Stripes never go out of style and they are a tried and true classic in late winter and early spring. They are fresh and come in just about every style. My go-to long sleeve stripe shirts are this one and this one. For short sleeve options I love this one and this one. Turtlenecks are also great for this time of year. You can still find a few out there, like this one and this one. Stripes are classic and ultra chic. They remind me of being in Paris, everyone is wearing stripes over there and looking great in them!
Camel Blazer
I LOVE a good blazer! You can’t wrong with having a classic blazer in your closet. I personally have 5+ in my closet. I wear them all the time for work and they creep into my weekend wardrobe too. A tailored blazer never goes out of style and always make you look polished.
My go to black blazer is the J. Crew Regents Blazer. I’ve had it for years and J. Crew continues to stock it every season. Last fall I invested in the J. Crew Parker Blazer in a rich camel color. I’m so glad I did too. It adds a new color to my wardrobe and looks super chic with all black and stripes.
Block Heel
Invest in a good block heel and your feet will thank you. Finding the right block heel has been a journey for me. I love my high heels and have been wearing them since college. My office shoes are 3 inch heels, because I like to be super tall in the office. I love the look and love being super tall in them. I’m 5’9 so add a 3 inch heel and we are pushing 6 feet, I’m a greedy tall person 🙂
When I got pregnant I religiously wore the high heels, but in month 8 they became a struggle. I had to find a better solution yet still feel like myself. Hello block heel! The block heel was shorter, around 2 inches, but offered more stability for my changing center of gravity. I fell in love with the Everlane Day Heel.
The Day Heel is super comfy, you can literally walk miles in these shoes! You can wear them in the office, on the weekends and out to brunch, as they go with everything. The color options are endless too, currently they offer 10+ options and usually add more choices each season. If you don’t have a pair you need to get a pair immediately!
Saddle Bag
Ditch the oversized tote and grab its stylish, under utilized sister, the saddle bag. I added the saddle bag to my collection late last year and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. You can read about it here.
Its allowed me to pair down everything I keep in my purse on the weekends and lighten the load. I still us a large tote during the work week, but love having a smaller option on the weekends. I splurged on this one and I’m so glad I did. It’s a high quality bag, with beautiful details.
Black Denim
When you think about denim you may not think about black denim, but you should. I’m hot on the black denim trend and have been for a while. They are a great alternative to regular-colored denim. You instantly look dress up in black denim and they offer a more edgy look.
My go to pair is the Everlane Authentic Stretch High Rise Denim. They are dream jeans and the price is right at $68! You can’t pass these puppies up! I lived in mine pre-pregnancy and even wore them well into month 5 (with a belly band) and can’t wait to get back into them. If you want to learn more about Everlane Denim you can read a full review here.
