I have a few fashion weaknesses: dresses, shoes and blazers. My love of the blazer started when I was very little. The piece that started it all was a navy blazer with a paisley print crest on it. I was nine years old and I never looked back. My love of the blazer was born at that very minute. Over the years, I’ve created a beautiful collection of classic blazers for work and weekend use. The ultimate blazer should take you through all facets of life. And today I’m sharing 5 classic blazers you need in your closet.
These classic blazers are part of my collection that I’ve built over the years. They are truly investment pieces that should be well thought out purchases.
5 Classic Blazers You Need In Your Closet
Regent Blazer
My oldest blazer in my closet. I was influenced by a coworker years ago to get it. The feature I love the most is the pop up collar. It really is what makes the blazer. The blazer itself is slightly longer, which is a win for a tall gal like myself. I also love that you can cuff the sleeves and have the pinstripe lining show. I wear this mostly in the office and on business trips. It’s effortless to look fabulous in this blazer. In terms of sizing it runs true to size, I have it in an 8.
Parke Blazer
The Parke Blazer is a traditional women’s blazer that is tailored perfectly. It’s not too tight, it’s not too big, it is just right! The one button closer makes it slightly less formal and easy to wear out on a weekend night. It comes in Navy, Black and Carmel, which is my favorite color. It’s chic, classic and has very east coast vibes. It also has the tiniest bit of stretch in it, which makes it movable with you all day long. In terms of sizing it runs true to size, I have it in an 8.
Going Out Blazer
The name says it all for this blazer. It’s slightly more dressy than your standard blazer and also fitted. The body is shorter and the sleeves hit right at your wrist. There is no need to cuff them or roll them up. I wear this blazer as my jacket when going out in the evening. Paring it with a cami and clutch make it sophisticated and stylish for a night out. In terms of sizing it runs true to size, I have it in an 8. The blazer will feel snug, but that’s the look of it so just go with it.
Sweater Blazer
J.Crew redid their sweater blazer this year, which actually made me very sad. I’m a huge fan of their older Sophie Sweater Blazer, which they no longer offer. However they replaced it with the Eloise Sweater Blazer, which is actually better. You can read my full review here. My 30 second review is…it’s fabulous and the perfect layering piece for winter and the holidays. I have one in black, khaki, green and pink. Needless to say I’m a huge fan! Sizing runs big so I recommend going down a size, I bought a small and my normal size is a medium.
Herringbone Blazer
The only menswear blazer I own and it’s a closet staple. It’s a relaxed fit meaning it won’t be tight or oversized, but still tailored to the female body. It hangs perfectly on the body making it still look polished. In this post here I show you how to style it 4 ways. It’s a highly versatile blazer. Go with your normal size and you won’t be disappointed.
