As a 43-year-old mom, Thanksgiving is a time to embrace comfort, warmth, and of course, style. We’re all about celebrating in a relaxed setting, enjoying good food and great company. But that doesn’t mean we can’t look fabulous while doing so! Finding that perfect balance between stylish and comfortably casual is the key to nailing your Thanksgiving outfit this year.
How To Build Your Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
Thanksgiving is the perfect occasion to embrace earthy tones like olive green, burnt orange, mustard, or deep browns. Layering with a cozy cardigan or a stylish jacket not only adds warmth but also gives your outfit more depth and style. When it comes to accessorizing, keep it simple and effortless. Opt for a statement necklace, a chunky scarf, or a stylish hat to elevate your look without going overboard. These accessories add a touch of personality to your outfit.
Complete your ensemble with comfortable yet chic footwear. Ankle boots, whether heeled or flat, can add a trendy edge to your outfit while keeping you cozy. Alternatively, stylish flats or mules are a fantastic choice for those who prefer a more relaxed vibe.
Thanksgiving is a time to feel grateful and joyful, so your outfit should reflect that warmth and comfort. While it’s essential to look stylish, there’s no need to be overly dressed up. Embrace casual elegance and focus on feeling great in what you wear.
My Thanksgiving Outfit
My casual Thanksgiving Day Outfit is casual, yet chic. I’m incorporating neutral tones that are inspired by the season and reflect my personal style. My base is black denim. I live in denim and feel the most comfortable in it. We go to our family’s house so its’ easy to be on the floor with the kids and also looks nice. My go to black denim this year is this pair from J.Crew. They are my “starter” straight leg denim as I start to branch out from skinny jeans.
Up top I’m going for something chic and classic. And my sweater blazer from J.Crew is perfect for that. It’s easy to layer and looks so polished. I did size down in this sweater and recommend you do too. I took a small (I typically wear a medium at J. Crew) and love the tailored look without it being tight on my body.
And for shoes I’m wearing my new Almond Loafer Rothy’s ! I’m a huge Rothy’s fan, you can see my Rothy’s Guide here. They are comfortable, easy to take on and off and really round out my look.
