Fashion Details:
It’s my favorite time of the year…back to school. No seriously, the end of summer has always held a special place in my heart. It reminds me of heading back to school and I loved school as a kid. It also meant a whole new closet full of clothes…maybe that’s what I really loved. But I loved back to school shopping. I loved picking out clothes that I could wear in summer and in fall. And I still have a passion for that today. It’s such a thrill to find a piece of clothing that you can truly wear for multiple seasons. To me it’s like winning the lottery. It’s also where my love for classic pieces started.
Classic Pieces
A classic clothing piece is an item that will stand the test of time. An item that you will have in your wardrobe forever. A good barometer of a classic piece is when a retailer makes it year after year. It’s not a trendy piece that comes and goes, it’s the tried and true piece that is here to stay. A great example of this is the blue and white striped shirt. It’s been around for years and comes in several variations.
Blue and White Striped Shirt
The blue and white striped shirt has been a preppy closet staple for years. It has the ultimate east coast vibes and makes you feel casually polished. I’ve been eyeing it for years. And in true Later Ever After style I took my time warming up to this classic piece. I am so glad I decided to add this piece to my wardrobe.
The actual blouse I have is the Everlane Relaxed Air Shirt. The word “air” is key with this blouse because it’s as light as air. It’s actually more cooling than a cotton tee on a hot summer day. The fabric is loose and breezy, but still polished. I love that you can easily cuff the sleeves without it feeling stiff. The lightweight fabric also means you can wear it multiple seasons. Wear it alone in the summer and layer it up in the other seasons.
How To Style
Styling a blue and white striped shirt is easy. These are some of my best tips to style this blouse for multiple seasons. Anytime I can wear a piece for all four seasons I consider it a huge win. It stretches your budget and makes the piece vital to your wardrobe. Check out how I style the blue and while stripe blouse for multiple seasons.
Summer
- Pair this blouse with white shorts (mine are under $18) for a crisp, fresh look
- Cuff the sleeves when the temps get high
- Tuck it in to look extra polished
Fall
- Wear a cropped raw edge jean (I have this pair and love them)
- Throw on a pair of animal print shoes to add an extra flair (I just picked up this pair)
- Top it off with a green jacket (this one is lightweight and under $100)
Winter
- Layer it up with this khaki sweater blazer
- Keep the shirt untucked for a relaxed look
- Pair it with these booties, they are beyond comfortable
Spring
- Break out the front tuck and let the back hang long
- Pair it with you suede loafers and let your ankles out (this is the best part of spring)
- Cuff the sleeves once, so they lay just above your wrists
