A couple weeks ago I asked all my IG followers if they wanted to see my best outfits for moms. 100% of my followers said YES, so here we are. Today I’m sharing the best outfits for Mom Life.
I’ll be honest, mom outfits are not that different from non-mom outfits, but there is one difference. You get a heck of a lot dirtier with kids around. I knew this from hanging out with my niece and nephew and solidified it with Lizzie.
Whether it’s drool or spit up, I always have something on my outfit from Lizzie. I don’t mind it that she gets me dirty, but I don’t want to be out and about with huge stains all over me.
In terms of outfits, I’m a jean girl, and I don’t do leggings. It’s a personal preference and while I did where leggings from time to time right after I had Lizzie, I no longer do. I need to get fully dressed to feel like myself. While I love the feeling of leggings, I want to get dressed everyday, even when sitting around the house. It makes me feel like me.
I’ve been struggling to find the right balance for my outfits though. My list of outfit criteria is a bit all over the place though. Take a peak;
Nothing sloppy, but nothing super fancy
Machine washable items only
Nothing overly tight, nothing overly loose
The perfect length, not too short, not too long
Nothing too low cut
Nothing too heavy or thick (I sweat easily)
Above all else I want an outfit that makes me feel put together with minimal effort. Whether I am sitting in the house all day or running around town, I want to feel good in my clothes. Having a few choices ready to go also saves me time in the morning.
#1 of the Best Outfits for Moms
Oversized Sweater + Distressed Jeans + Leather Sneakers
I lived in an oversized sweater last winter and I’m so excited to expand my selection this year. Oversized sweaters are comfy and cozy, but look put together. What’s great about an oversized sweater is you usually size up in any normal sweater to make it oversized.
And let’s not forget my sneakers. I live in these sneakers , they are durable, comfy and stylish. AKA the ultimate mom shoe!
#2 of the Best Outfits for Moms
Striped Top + Athleisure Pant + Street Shoes
Remember my travel capsule wardrobe I just wrote about? Well, these pants are from it. While they are a work pant, they double as a weekend pant. Anytime I can pull double duty with a piece of clothing I’m excited.
And the striped top is a mom essential, PERIOD. They go with just about everything and make you look put together in an instant. I love this one and this one too.
#3 of the Best Outfits for Moms
Wide Leg Crop + Striped Body Suit + Day Gloves
I’ll be the first to admit that a wide leg crop made me uneasy. It’s something I wouldn’t normally wear and something I thought would look stupid on me. But never say never…I tried it and love it!
My tip for wearing wide leg pants successfully is to keep proportions in mind. Wear a slimmer top to balance out the wide leg look. This bodysuit is perfect for a wide leg crop. It also doubles as a great date night top with skinny jeans.
