Summer, summer, summer time! I’m really getting prepped for summer over here. Last year I wore the same 4 tops and shorts all summer long, but not this summer. I’m going all out. I’ve already stocked my closet with the best dress (you can see my favorite here) and now I’m sharing some summer shorts outfits.

Shorts

So shorts have always been a hard clothing item for me. Also, I went through a phase where I hated shorts, loved them and now I’m somewhere in between. My shorts criteria centers around my age and actions. I’m on the run with a toddler so I need more coverage and comfort without sacrificing style. These are the tops things I look for in shorts:

Elastic Waist – Comfort is a wonderful thing and since tucking in shirts is super cute right now, having an elastic waist makes for the perfect look.

A Longer Inseam – I’ve got real thighs and I like them covered. I prefer an inseam that is at least 4 inches, any shorter than that I don’t feel comfortable in.

High Waist Shorts – If I wear a high waisted short I size up 1 to 2 sizes. Unlike high waisted jeans I don’t want to be sucked into high waisted shorts. Having a high waisted short that is fitted vs tight looks better.

Pockets – It’s great to have pockets to store my things and Lizzie’s things in.

Cotton – This is my preferred material for shorts. It’s breathable, washes well and looks nice.

Summer is here and today I’m sharing my favorite summer shorts outfits with you. These outfits are for the mom on the go that wants to feel good and look good in her shorts. They are also ideal for working from home because that is my current working status 🙂
