Simple Gold Jewelry

There is one trend that I’m loving right now.  It’s gold jewelry and I can’t get enough of it.  A self proclaimed silver only girl has come over to the gold jewelry side and I might be here to stay.  Crazy right?  Gold jewelry pairs well with any color palette from soft grays to black and everything in between.

 

Gold jewelry is actually very versatile and glams up just about any outfit.  It has a soft sophisticated side as well. It can also be perceived as rich and indulgent given the cost of gold.  But let’s get something straight from the get-go, all the pieces I’m talking about are not real gold, they are gold plated.

 

Gold plated jewelry means that the piece isn’t solid gold, it means that a thin layer of gold is put onto another surface, like silver through a chemical.  That is why gold jewelry you find at retailers is relatively inexpensive.  Gold plating gives you the illusion of pure gold for a fraction of the cost.  Keep in mind that over time it can chip away or appear less shiny.

Gold Necklace 

My latest obsession with gold started with a handmade piece from fellow blogger Ali Stone.  She has a jewelry line with her mom, Revelle and their pieces are on trend.  I picked up an initial necklace and a heart charm and love them!  You can customize all their pieces and layer them to create the ultimate stack.

 

The Choker 

Speaking of the ultimate stack, the one piece that grounds the entire stack is the choker.  Remember the choker from the 90’s?  Well it’s back and better than ever.  The choker is the base of your stack, the piece that can be worn alone or styled up with multiple necklaces.  A choker can range from 14-16 inches depending on the size of your neck.  I personally like a little looser fit.

 

Which is why I love the Kendra Scott Addison Charm Choker.  It is dainty, delicate and 100% adjustable.  The clasp has a slider on it so you can make it as tight or loose as you want it to be.  It’s ideal because you can wear it with multiple necklines.  From a high crew neck to a v-neck tee this choker will go with anything.
