Hostess Gift Guide
With the holidays upon us it means that there are a ton of holiday parties going on. I’ve always believed that bringing a hostess gift is a must to any party. The hostess give is a symbol of appreciation for the host of the party. I used to bring a bottle of wine with a bow on it to every party I went to, but as I got a little bit older I abandoned that idea and starting bringing actual gifts. I wanted to genuinely show my appreciation for the hard work the host has put into the event.
I tend to make my hostess gift appropriate for the event. For example, to a summer BBQ I may bring a basket of beers and burger seasoning mix, or for a fall dinner party I would bring a leaves-scented candle and a mini box of vosges chocolate, which is my favorite Chicago-made chocolate brand. At the holidays you can pretty much bring anything as a gift. I like to make my holiday hostess gifts a bit more focused on the home and add in a little holiday flare.
Pineapples are a symbol of warmth and welcome and every home should have at least one or two. | Candles make great gifts, this winter themed candle is great to create a cozy environment. It’s also made by an Illinois couple and that is important to me, as I love the state I live in. I also love the packaging of this candle. | Home goods are also great gift ideas. This cheese serving set is beautiful and will become a favorite for anyone you give it to. Another personal favorite gift is appetizer plates and mugs, they can be used year round. | Giving traditional holiday decor items is a nice touch around the holidays. I was once gifted a beautiful boxwood wreath and I truly treasure it, its one of my favorite holiday pieces. This miniature gold tree is adorable and can be incorporated into existing decor. And finally a personalized throw is a thoughtful gift that can be used year round.

Luxury Gift Guide
I typically spend a reasonable amount of gifts, but once in awhile I love to go all out and splurge on gifts for my family or even myself. I do this during the holidays or for a special occasion like a milestone birthday or anniversary. These also aren’t gifts I buy on a whim, I think about it and save for months for them.
